Saturday, December 7th is Pearl Harbor Day
On December 7, 1941 at 7:48 am, Hawaii time, aircraft from the Imperial Japanese Navy attacked the United States Naval Base at Pear Harbor Hawaii. Ninety minutes later, 2,386 Americans were dead, another 1,139 were wounded, and 18 ships were sunk or run aground. Five of them were battleships, Including the USS Arizona, on which 1,177 officers and crewmen perished. This event, described by then President Franklin Delano Roosevelt as "a date that will live in infamy" led the United States to declare war on Japan the following day and brought the United States into World War II. The Arizona's hull remains on the floor of Pearl Harbor straddled by the USS Arizona Memorial.
