On Wednesday, March 21, 2013, at approximately 4:15 p.m., a Phoenix Police Department Employee Notification System message went out announcing a video message from Chief Garcia regarding 2013 Crime Reduction Strategies, 5/8-4/10 blended pilot program, and continued deployment model efficiencies.
Chief Garcia announced that he is suspending the 5/8-4/10 blended pilot program for the remainder of 2013.
PLEA would like to thank City Manager David Cavazos, Assistant City Manager Ed Zuercher, and Chief Garcia for taking the time to attend the community meeting held at the Estrella Mountain Precinct on Tuesday, March 19th, to listen to our members, their families, and the community, and making this important decision.
PLEA would also like to thank the many Officers, Sergeants, Lieutenants, family members, and valued community members who attended this meeting and provided their perspectives of the potential consequences this decision would have had on everyone. This show of support was monumental and a testimony to the hard work that Phoenix Police Officers do, under increasingly difficult conditions
PLEA looks forward to future meetings and discussions with Chief Garcia in order to collaboratively solve problems and implement programs and procedures which will allow the Phoenix Police Department to continue to provide first class service to the citizens we serve.
