Contract Update/Call to Action

While contract negotiations have been going on for several weeks, we have reached impasse.

In a nutshell, the final offer from the City was to restore 2.6% of our concessions and not make us whole, which is unacceptable.  PLEA and Fire were working on a 3 year deal that would have restored concessions and provided a raise in the third year of the contract, but those talks have not progressed beyond this point.  We will be going to Fact Finding TOGETHER with Fire for the first time in history, which will occur on April 6th and 7th.  We are sticking together and are united.

PLEA and Fire are asking our members and their families to attend one or two of the upcoming 14 public budget hearings, which will be held throughout the City starting on Monday, March 28th until mid-April.  We need as many people as possible at each of these hearings so our voices will be heard.  The last time we packed these budget hearings was in 2010 when the City was proposing the layoff of 350 Police Officers.  We can be successful if we stick together and let our voices be heard.  By attending one hearing and bringing your family, YOU can have a DIRECT influence on the outcome of these negotiations.
