PLEA Charities Helps a Family Devastated by a House Fire

On Thursday, December 15, 2016, at approximately 8:36 am, the Phoenix Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 1400 block of East LaSalle Street.  The fully engulfed structure fire was eventually put out, but in addition to a small dog and pet birds, 87 year old resident Janet Ross, who has lived in the home for 52 years lost everything she owned.  This included items used to care for her grandchildren and all the Christmas gifts for her family.

In a collaborative effort of the Phoenix Police Department, Phoenix Fire Department, United Phoenix Firefighters, and PLEA, the family was presented with badly needed items including a stroller, car seat, baby formula and clothing items.  Additional donations were provided by Johnjay and Rich, morning show personalities from 104.7 KISS FM, members of the Phoenix Police Department, Fry’s Grocery Stores, and WalMart.

PLEA secretary Frank Marino presented a $500 check from PLEA Charities to family member Zaqueena Coleman.
