On Thursday, December 21, 2017 an explosion destroyed the house that Prudencia Gonzalez and her three grandsons were living in while preparations were being made to install a stove donated through a Bible Study group from North Phoenix Baptist Church. Sadly, Anita Johnson, a member of this group who had been working with the Gonzalez Family, was killed in the blast and an employee of Spencer’s Appliances was critically injured. The Gonzalez family was not home at the time of the incident.
On Saturday, December 23, 2017 PLEA, United Phoenix Firefighters Community Charities, members of the Phoenix Police Department, the Phoenix Fire Department, and large number of community members turned out to give back to the Gonzalez family who is staying at a family member’s home near the scene of the original tragedy. Additionally, Anita Johnson’s daughter, Tiffany Mason-Lopez decided to participate in this heartwarming and emotional event.
PLEA Secretary Frank Marino and PLEA Rep Kevin Wilson attended and presented Prudencia with a $1000 donation from PLEA Charities.
A GoFundMe page has been set up for the Gonzalez family.
PLEA Charities provides for the Police and Cares for the Community and because there are no administrative fees, 100% of all donations go directly to recipients. For more information on PLEA Charities, including how to make a donation, CLICK HERE.
