On Wednesday January 20th, PLEA in partnership with our state group, the Arizona Police Association (APA), along with numerous community partners was proud to be a part of the first conference on Trust and Legitimacy in Arizona. The purpose was to begin coming up with solutions on how Arizona law enforcement can progress in partnering with various communities to increase the trust and legitimacy factors between law enforcement and the various communities we serve incorporating foundational pillars from the President’s Task Force on 21st Century Policing. This conference, which is the first of several to come, was unique in that it was organized and driven not by politicians or police managers but by rank and file cops.
The event was well attended by rank and file officers, community partners and police managers from across the state.
Special thanks to Ben Harrison and Associates who worked hard to not only facilitate the event but to design a specialized curriculum as well.
Thanks also to Mesa Chief John Meza and the Mesa PD who graciously made their training facilities available.
