Although the holiday season is in full swing and many people have already done their shopping, keep in mind that any time that you shop in the City of Phoenix, instead of neighboring cities or making online purchases, 38% of the retail sales tax you pay on merchandise goes back into the City’s General Fund.
When you make purchases at these local and small businesses instead of online or out of state, more of your money re-circulates in our own community instead of going somewhere else. This translates to more jobs, improvements to our neighborhoods, and community development for the City of Phoenix.
The money that goes into the General Fund helps to pay for vital City services, including police and fire protection, parks, libraries, senior centers and street maintenance.
