PLEA learned today that the Mesa Police Association (MPA) easily won their Meet & Confer election against the FOP. The MPA now has exclusive rights to protect Mesa Police Officers. The MPA is a valuable member of the Arizona Police Association (APA) which now represents 23 law enforcement associations throughout the state. The conflict brought by the FOP by allowing management a voice in their fraternity, the absence of exclusive rights in providing rights, wages, and benefits for police officers throughout Arizona, and the flow of dues out of state to an absent outside national entity continue to be flaws and setbacks that make the FOP the wrong choice for Arizona law enforcement. Mesa police officers have clearly spoken. They rejected the FOP in spite of the fact the FOP state president was a part of their own police department. PLEA wishes to extend congratulations to the MPA.
