This morning the Arizona Police Association announced their endorsement for Greg Stanton to be the next Mayor of Phoenix. During the course of the press conference Mr. Stanton said:
“We put our trust in law enforcement every day to keep our community safe and I am honored that the women and men of law enforcement are putting their trust in me to lead our city. The Arizona Police Association represents more than 10,000 law enforcement officers and 23 law enforcement associations in Arizona, including many officers with the Phoenix Police Department.”
“In endorsing me, the Association’s Executive Director, Brian Livingston, said: ‘Greg Stanton’s priorities are creating quality jobs, supporting strong schools and improving public safety. We need that focus in our next Mayor and we need a leader with his proven independence and ability to get things done.'” “During my nine years on the Phoenix City Council and in my two years as Deputy Attorney General, I appreciated the professionalism and dedication of our law enforcement officers. I also learned that our officers need strong advocacy by elected officials.”
Stanton went on to say:
“With this endorsement, the Arizona Police Association has put a great deal of faith in me to partner with them and make our communities as safe as possible. I will work every day as Mayor to live up to their confidence and the confidence of the people of Phoenix. I will ensure that the city’s administration, rank and file law enforcement, and our neighborhood leaders are able to work collaboratively to keep our streets and homes safe and secure.”
