On Tuesday, March 19, 2013, PLEA and PPSLA will hold a special joint Board meeting at the Estrella Mountain Precinct Community Room.
At 10:00 a.m., Phoenix City Manager David Cavazos will be at the meeting to discuss budget issues.
PLEA encourages members and their families to attend this meeting to let Mr. Cavazos know their thoughts and feelings on the proposed budget as well as the proposed 5/8 Patrol pilot program, which is set to begin in 300 this May.
Interestingly enough, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, IACP, just published an article in their monthly magazine, which shows that 10 hour shifts offer cost savings and other benefits over traditional 8 hour shifts. Officers who work traditional 8 hour shifts worked significantly more overtime, which averaged 5 times more than officers working 10 hour shifts.

PLEA would also like all members to bring at least five email addresses of family, friends, and neighbors to be added into our community wide email database to keep them informed of significant developments within the Phoenix Police Department. This is your opportunity to directly hear from and have discussions with Mr. Cavazos over these proposed changes.
