On Monday, February 1, 2010, PLEA learned the City Council was considering implementing 2% per year food tax for a five year period. PLEA is in support of the food tax, we along with our community partners believe a less expensive and more efficient solution should be considered to address the city’s budget and public safety crisis (4% for two years as opposed to 2% for five years). Since PLEA did not have the opportunity to express our concerns to the City Manager prior to the Council meeting, it was important to communicate the Association’s concerns in the attached letter.
