The State Legislature is in the process on hearing proposed legislation that would eliminate conflicting town and city ordinances against the carry of knives. Having multiple ordinances on the books can result in innocent persons being charged with a crime by merely crossing the street from one city into another. The proposed legislation if passed into law would allow the state to write the law regarding carry of knives, types of knives etc., which would make the law consistent thus eliminating the current patchwork of local ordinances that currently exist statewide. On March 17, 2010, PLEA’s Legislative lobbyist Levi Bolton spoke with News 5 about the issue.
