PLEA was informed of and was saddened to learn of the untimely death of Officer John Buckner of the Desert Horizon Precinct during the early morning hours on August 17, 2010. John died as a result of medical complications sustained following a surgical procedure. John was a veteran officer with over 30 years of service and was the senior ranking patrol officer on the department. John was actively involved with PLEA for many years. He was a past PLEA Board member and continued to work as an active PLEA Rep providing advice and assistance to numerous officers over the years. He also served as a member of the department’s CISM team. John’s presence will be greatly missed. PLEA extends heartfelt prayers and sympathy to John’s friends and family during this trying and difficult time.
