As PLEA has repeatedly said, the continuing attacks from Goldwater, Sal Diccico and their allies are not against PLEA but against every single Police Officer and Firefighter in the City of Phoenix. After a brief pause last week while all in the city paid respects to a police officer and firefighter who paid the ultimate price, the usual suspects are hard back at it trying to tear down and villainize those who willingly put themselves in harm’s way on a daily basis to keep the citizens of Phoenix safe.
The latest attack came on Tuesday when Arizona Republic reporter Craig Harris wrote a hit piece referencing compensation earned by senior Phoenix Police Officers and Firefighters. He reported that Goldwater is considering a lawsuit to invalidate parts of the MOU and possibly go after retirees and reduce their pensions. PLEA will vigorously defend these baseless attacks. Since Goldwater likes to print out our website and attach it to lawsuits, all we will say is that we believe our MOU to be in compliance with Arizona law. We will keep you updated as to any further developments.
