2nd Annual Protect and Serve Awards

On Wednesday, April 21, 2010, Require the Prior.org, one of PLEA’s community partners, hosted their second annual “To Protect and Serve” Awards ceremony for service and leadership which was held at the PLEA office.  Require the Prior President Ann Malone presented awards to Squaw Peak Precinct Community Action Officer John McLachlan for his tireless efforts in serving the citizens of his precinct and PLEA President Mark Spencer for PLEA’s efforts in partnering with the citizens of Phoenix during the recent budget crisis and working to solve problems on the jail booking process.

Prior Award winners PPD Cmdr. AB Smith and Officer Rusty Stuart attended the event.  Also in attendance were Phoenix City Councilwoman Thelda Williams, Phoenix City Councilman Sal DiCiccio, Susan Bitttersmith, state treasurer Dean Martin, Bob Thomas (LD 15), Ed Winkler (CD 3)  MCSO Sheriff  Joe Arpaio, Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu, PPD Commanders Glen Gardner and Jeff Hynes.

Neighborhood leaders representing the following groups and organizations: N.A.I.L.E.M., the Mid-Town Museum District, Arcadia Camelback Mountain, Metro Blockwatch, Sunnyslope Village Alliance, Adobe Village, Mountainview Christian Church, Capitol Mall Association, Arcadia Osborn Neighborhood, Neighborhood Coalition of Greater Phoenix, Arcadia Lite Neighborhood, Whitcomb Circle neighborhood; and the following community and business leaders: Schemer Art Center, MCSO Youth Assistance Foundation, Phoenix Arcadia Rotary Club, Camelback Kiwanis Club, and numerous business members of Require the Prior.

PLEA along with Require the Prior extends their heartfel thanks to all of the persons and groups listed above for their support in coming out to honor these two officers.
