Officer Kenneth L. Collings

On May 27th, 1988, Officer Collings was shot and killed while working off-duty at a bank. He had confronted the two suspects at the scene of the robbery when one of the suspects was able to shoot the officer and escape. Officer Collings died three hours later. One suspect was arrested while the other escaped to Mexico. This suspect was arrested by Mexican officials twelve years later in June of 2000 after being wounded in a shootout with police. The suspect was extradited to U.S., stood trial & was convicted. Officer Collings was an eight year veteran of the Phoenix Police Department at the time of his death.
